How to Use the Unweighted GPA Calculator – Step by Step

Step 1: Enter the Number of Subjects

In the “Number of Subjects” field, type how many courses you want to include (1 to 15).
Example: If you are calculating GPA for 5 subjects, enter “5”.

Step 2: Select the GPA Scale

Choose your school’s GPA scale from the dropdown:
4.0 Scale (most common)
5.0 Scale
10.0 Scale

Step 3: Click “Generate Subject Fields”

This will create input rows for each subject you selected.

Step 4: Choose Your Grade Input Mode

You can enter your grades using one of two modes:
Letter Grade (e.g., A, B+, C-)
Numeric GPA (e.g., 3.7, 2.8)
To switch modes, use the buttons labeled “Letter Grade” or “Numeric GPA.”

Step 5: Enter Subject Information

For each subject, enter the following:
Subject Name (e.g., “Math” or “Biology”)
Grade – either a letter or numeric GPA, based on your selected input mode
Credit Hours – how many credits the course is worth (e.g., 3, 4, etc.)

Step 6: Click “Calculate GPA”

The calculator will use your inputs to compute your unweighted GPA using this formula:
Total Grade Points / Total Credit Hours = GPA
It does not add weight for honors, AP, or advanced classes. Every course is treated equally.
